A 25-acre farm on Lake Champlain, restored in one season.

Cutting gardens, fence lines, forest and lake access: how an overgrown lakefront farm became a cared-for property.

“After only one season with Vertscape on my team, Stoneledge Farm has transformed into a manicured and purposeful property.”

As Owner/Operator of Stoneledge Farm on Lake Champlain, I was overwhelmed with the task of getting our newly purchased 25-acre property back to its former glory. There were cutting gardens, unwieldy fence lines, overgrown forests, and unkempt lake access points. Every week I felt like I had moved 1 step forward and 2 steps back. I was overwhelmed and I didn’t feel like I was making any headway. Then I hired Vertscape. And I never looked back. Their knowledge of plantings and seasonal soil requirements is impressive and they have many suggestions for how to approach a project in newer and better ways! After only one season with Vertscape on my team, Stoneledge Farm has transformed into a manicured and purposeful property. Our lawn has fully established, the planting borders are thriving, and our fences and roads look well cared for. I am honored to promote their professional work.

From a historic homestead on Lake Champlain to family backyards in Shelburne and South Burlington, here’s what homeowners and builders say about working with Del and the Vertscape team.

Lakefront & Second-Home Care

Ongoing care for lakefront properties and second homes, so the landscape is ready whenever you arrive.

Property Care

“Day to day, Vertscape demonstrates a great deal of expertise. They answer my questions with a high level of knowledge. This puts me at comfort as they clearly are landscaping experts, planting and aesthetic and applies it to properties. Vertscape maintains my home in Charlotte, Vermont. It’s my second home on Lake Champlain. The property has always had great bones but for years was overgrown and unmanageable. They simplified, repositioned flowers and plants, revived trees and creatively added touches that I would never have thought of. I arrive at the house now and see a gorgeous landscape, full tree line, multi colored rock garden. I walk the property down to the lake and just admire. I’m particular so I’m selective about what I want. It’s a pleasure to wake up and look out the window and see such a beautiful presentation.”

“We highly recommend the hard work of Del and his Vertscape team. Through the pandemic, he worked tirelessly in rain and shine to finish our walkway, stoop and columns. Even when product supply shortages and snafus occurred he worked with us on alternatives and hung in there to make the modifications needed to get the project done. Thank you Del! Appreciatively.”

“We had a stone wall garden that looked like a pile of rocks and weeds that was a nightmare to care for. Then Del came to work his magic to restructure the existing stones into a beautiful stone wall. He cleaned up the ghastly weeds and planted small plants and shrubs that will survive in the shallow earth of a rock garden. The final touches were adding solar lights at strategic places to highlight the beauty of the plants and rock wall. We are excited to use Vertscape for all of our landscaping and lawn and shrub care. They are affordable, friendly, and provide top quality service. We highly recommend them!”

“Vertscape has completely transformed our backyard, and now our back porch. It used to be a patch of mud with a slightly smelly old wood porch. Now it’s a beautiful blue stone porch which matches our patio and is surrounded by perennials he planted. Del is the absolute best, he listens and provides recommendations to get you what you want at an affordable price. He gives honest evaluations of how long a project will take, and then usually beats his own estimates :-). He laid the stone for our porch in one day! As I tell all of my friends, I cannot recommend Del highly enough.”

Tree & Property Care

Pruning, tree work and lawn and shrub care from a team that knows plants.

Property Care

“Vertscape was recommended to me by a neighbor in Shelburne and I’m so appreciative that she did. I needed some tree work done as I had overgrowth and I could tell Del knew exactly what he was talking about. He was very easy to work with and understood our wishes completely. When returning later in the day he started the job I was astounded by how much the crew had accomplished. He offered some suggestions as to pruning to improve the health of other landscaping around the property without any kind of pressure and I gladly took his advice. Del is polite, knowledgeable, easy to work with but most importantly to me is that he takes great pride in his work and his work ethic is admirable. I only hope this testimonial doesn’t book his schedule as there’s plenty more work I could use his services for.”
